If you haven't played a Scribblenauts video game you should really try one. They are my favorite games on my son's Nintendo 3DS. Maxwell, the main character carries a magic notebook (the stands for these figures). One of the most recent games in the Scribblenauts series was Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comic Adventure (for 3DS and Wii U) in which Maxwell enters the world of DC Comics! Apparently they have already released series 1 and 2 figures. Series 3 and 4 will be released in July and September. I have more info about Series 2, 3 & 4 at the bottom. Now lets check out Bizarro!

Scribblenauts Unmasked Bizarro Review

Figures come in a small box. No peeking! The box is glued shut and even if you tried to sneak a look the contents are sealed in a foil bag inside the box.

Inside the foil bad is 1 figure, 1 stand and 1 one code for an online comic. The stand is also wrapped in plastic inside the foil.

These are of course "blind bag" (or box) purchases. Each is a surprise which can be frustrating if you keeping getting multiples or can't find the one that you are looking for. At the moment I have not found any "codes" or ways to determine which is in each box.

Right and Left side of the box. Sources reveal that the secret one is Maxwell in Green Lantern costume.

I THINK the numbers refer to the number present in each case (rarity of each?).

Figures in Wave 1 are from left to right:
Black Manta, Vampire Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Gold Superman, Maxwell (as Green Lantern), Aquaman, Deadman, Bizarro, Joker and Batman

Back of the box. I taped it shut for the photos. It was originally glued (no tape).

The figure stands quite a bit taller than LEGO minifigures. Some of these vary somewhat in size. Bizarro stands almost exactly 2.5 inches tall (without the stand).

Each of the two pegs are somewhat different in size. The holes in the feet are also different sizes. He stands very easily on the stand but because of the difference in peg sizes he needs to be standing with the pencil behind him. I'm not sure why they chose to do this.

One of the holes works really well with some LEGO parts! (check out photo's of Bizarro flying with LEGO translucent part attached to the peg)

Here's a photo from a different angle so that the LEGO part is visible protruding from the paper background.

And here is the LEGO part that I used. The tip fits into the right foot (his right) with very little resistance.

The figure has 5 articulation points. His head is supposed to turn but the cape on his shoulders gets in the way so his head doesn't really turn. His arms and legs "rotate". The arms and legs are "almost" ball joints. NOTE they are not true ball joints allowing lots of movement but they do allow the arms and legs to be moved slightly either further apart or closer together.

To see what I mean check out the arms in the next two photo's

I couldn't resist taking a photo of him being gentle with a LEGO kitten

Wave 2 was also available at GameStop today when I purchased Bizarro from Wave 1.

Wave 1 includes:
Black Manta, Vampire Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Gold Superman, Maxwell (as Green Lantern), Aquaman, Deadman, Bizarro, Joker and Batman

Wave 2 includes:
Blue Beetle, Batman (first appearance style), Cyborg, The Flash, Superman (blue elemental?), Sinestro, Aquaman (blue suit), Gold Batman, Maxwell (as Starro), Bane and mystery figure.
I'm almost certain that the mystery figure is Superman variant with red energy. Does anyone know the official title for this figure? Thanks in advance.

Sources reveal that Series 3 will be available in July 2014 and Series 4 in September 2014
Wave 3:
Alloy, Gold Wonder Woman, mystery figure, Batman, Sinestro, Star-Spangled Kid, Professor Zoom, Tharok, Green Lantern Simon Baz, Maxwell (3rd mystery costume) and Green Lantern Kyle Rayner

 Wave 4:
Gold Cyborg, Mercury (from Metal Men), mystery figure, Mister Miracle, Swamp Thing, Beast Boy, John Constantine, Lex Luthor, Deathstroke, Mawell (4th mystery costume) and Catwoman.

Verdict:
I have always loved the art style of Scribblenauts. I would love to see more unlicensed characters/creatures from other Scribblenauts games done in this style such as Edison t-rex, wendigo, werewolf and death.

Art-style of the figures is a plus

Interesting selection of DC characters is a plus

Price... meh... I would prefer $3 or $4 but they could be priced much higher. Compared to Funko Pop Vinyls or Mighty Mugs I am very pleased with the price even if they are smaller scale.

Articulation is a bit of a negative. Ok they move a little better than I expected but even without adding extra articulation points they could have easily made the joints true ball joints allowing more freedom of movement. Again compare the movement to Funko Pop or Might Mugs and I'm very happy.

What if they had made parts removable and interchangeable? It would be a lot of fun to swap heads and arms with other figures.

I'll probably buy a few more but I won't be collecting them all. I was lucky with my first purchase and got exactly the one that I wanted (Bizarro). That doesn't happen often.

IF they made a few Legend of Zelda characters I would probably purchase them all.

Do you have more info in regards to Scribblenauts Unmasked Figures? Notice any mistakes? Feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
